Company Purpose 
Jambo Capital Initiative (JCI) aims to provide affordable clean cook stoves and financial services to alleviate 
poverty, focusing on sustainable solutions for marginalized communities. 
Company Objectives 
The company aims to enhance biodiversity, improve air quality, empower women, provide financial 
support for sustainable livelihoods, and foster local employment and economic growth through the production 
and distribution of clean cook stoves. These goals aim to make a positive impact on the environment, health, 
gender equality, and socio-economic development. 
Company Goals 
Short-term: 
▪ Manufacture and distribute 1,000,000 clean cook stoves across all 
47 counties of Kenya. 
▪ Accompany each cook stove distribution with a minimum of 10 tree seedlings to ensure sustainable fuel 
sources. 
▪ Focus on scalable, high-quality approaches and remain technology and fuel-neutral. 
▪ Leverage existing partnerships within the sector to amplify impact and prioritize consumer needs. 
▪ Seek new partnerships and donors to expand reach and ensure affordability for vulnerable 
populations. 
Medium-term: 
▪ Reduce direct emissions of Carbon Dioxide and Black Carbon by promoting highly efficient stoves. 
▪ Mitigate emissions from forest degradation by transitioning from traditional open fires to clean cook 
stoves. 
Long-term: 
▪ Establish a sustainable model for clean cooking solutions that contributes to poverty alleviation and 
environmental sustainability. 
▪ Expand reach to underserved communities beyond Kenya, promoting similar initiatives in other regions. 
▪ Advocate for policy changes to support clean cooking solutions and environmental conservation on a global scale.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Our clean cookstoves project prioritizes the empowerment of underrepresented groups—especially women, youth, and climate-vulnerable communities—at every stage. 
Women, who bear the brunt of traditional cooking’s health burdens, are our primary beneficiaries, receiving subsidized stoves, targeted training, and leadership opportunities in project implementation. 
We work closely with women’s self-help groups, enabling them to become community mobilizers, distribution agents, and trainers, thereby fostering income generation and enhancing decision-making power.
Youth engagement is central: they serve as outreach ambassadors, technical trainees, stove artisans, and digital monitors, gaining new skills for green jobs and entrepreneurship. Our recruitment and training are intentional in reaching young people in areas of high unemployment.
Climate-vulnerable communities are prioritized through geographic targeting and inclusive microfinance schemes, ensuring that households most affected by energy poverty and environmental change benefit first. Project design and evaluation are participatory, incorporating voices from these groups into governance through community advisory panels and feedback sessions.
Within our organization, women and youth are strongly represented in management, fieldwork, monitoring, and technical roles. We actively invest in their capacity building and leadership development, making our model both inclusive and replicable—supporting equity and justice alongside climate action.
