Leukeather actively prioritises inclusion and empowerment of underrepresented groups in the climate movement. Our founding team is diverse, with women and people of colour in key leadership, R&D and operational roles, ensuring that decision-making reflects varied perspectives and experiences. By fostering an inclusive organisational culture, we create opportunities for mentorship, skills development and career growth for individuals from historically marginalised communities.

Beyond our team, Leukeather engages local communities in the UAE and surrounding regions, sourcing raw materials such as Leucaena pods in ways that support smallholders and sustainable livelihoods, promoting economic inclusion while reducing environmental impact. We also collaborate with youth and climate-focused student networks to raise awareness about sustainable materials, providing education, internships and hands-on learning experiences that empower the next generation of climate innovators.

Through these efforts, Leukeather not only addresses the climate crisis but also amplifies the voices and participation of groups traditionally underrepresented in environmental and sustainability work. By embedding diversity, equity and inclusion into our operations, partnerships and outreach, we ensure that the climate solutions we develop are socially as well as environmentally regenerative, scalable and just.

Mission Statement:

Leukeather’s mission is to deliver an ultra–low-carbon, bio-based leather alternative that cuts material emissions by 99.5% compared with animal leather. Producing only 0.34 kg CO₂e per sqm, it also avoids toxic wastewater, reduces water use by over 98% and protects biodiversity, providing a scalable, climate-positive solution for the design sector.
