How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
In Ecuador, smallholder producers and rural families are often excluded from global climate solutions, despite being directly affected by soil degradation, volatile markets, and climate shocks. Pacchar bridges this gap by transforming agricultural residues into biochar, creating both environmental and economic value. Through training, technical support, and participatory governance, we equip farmers with regenerative practices that restore soils, increase yields, and generate new income streams from sustainable inputs and carbon markets. Our model prioritizes inclusivity: women and youth are actively engaged in producer networks, gaining access to leadership roles, financial literacy, and climate-smart technologies. By embedding biochar production within community supply chains, Pacchar ensures that benefits—carbon credit revenues, improved soil fertility, and reduced input costs—flow directly to those historically marginalized in agribusiness
