Project Summary / Description:
Rotodyne Power is pioneering a breakthrough hydrogen internal combustion engine (ICE) genset platform that delivers 65%+ brake thermal efficiency—nearly double that of conventional diesel systems. Our unique axial engine architecture with magnetically actuated subsystems and aerogel-insulated components enables >50% reductions in both fuel consumption and emissions. Designed for high reliability, compact form factor, and modular scalability, Rotodyne gensets are optimized for off-grid, backup, and mission-critical power in data centers, telecom, industrial, microgrid, and defense markets. Our approach combines advanced thermal efficiency with flexible fuel compatibility to enable a cleaner, cost-effective transition away from legacy diesel infrastructure.
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Rotodyne Power is deeply committed to empowering U.S. military veterans—an often underrepresented group in the climate and clean tech workforce—by integrating them directly into our development, testing, and manufacturing ecosystem. Several key members of our leadership team, including our COO and CTO are retired disabled veterans with decades of experience in aerospace, defense, and systems integration. Our near-term hiring and operations strategy prioritizes working with veterans for the assembly, quality assurance, and maintenance of Rotodyne GenSet units. We are exploring partnerships with veteran training programs and considering the renovation of underutilized military facilities or former base infrastructure to create low-cost, purpose-built production and testing centers. This approach not only reduces overhead but also revitalizes communities tied to military service and expands access to high-quality green jobs. By aligning our mission with veteran empowerment, we are building a uniquely capable and values-driven team while fostering economic inclusion in the climate transition.
