The Youth in Climate and Food Systems Fellowship (YCFSF) builds a pipeline of young climate innovators, agroecology champions, and green enterprise leaders from rural and climate-vulnerable communities. The fellowship provides intensive training, green enterprise incubation, community project implementation, policy engagement opportunities, and a long-term alumni network supporting climate-resilient food systems.

YCFSF places underrepresented groups at the center of climate action by intentionally recruiting and training women, youth, Indigenous peoples, and rural community members as climate leaders and green enterprise innovators. By equipping these groups with skills in regenerative agriculture, climate-smart farming, and green business development, the fellowship enables them to implement local projects that generate measurable environmental and socio-economic benefits.
Within YCFSF, women and youth hold leadership positions as fellows, mentors, and program coordinators, ensuring representation in decision-making, project design, and implementation. Indigenous knowledge is integrated into training curricula, empowering local communities to conserve biodiversity and sustainably manage natural resources. Social support, gender-responsive strategies, and inclusion mechanisms ensure marginalized populations are able to fully participate, access resources, and benefit from fellowship opportunities.
Through capacity building, mentorship, and community engagement, YCFSF amplifies the voices of historically excluded groups, strengthens their leadership in climate and food systems, and builds equitable, scalable solutions to climate challenges while fostering socio-economic resilience in vulnerable communities.
