How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project is deeply rooted in empowering underrepresented communities, particularly women, youth, and climate-vulnerable populations in rural Kenya and refugee settlements. Through our “Mama4AI” micro-franchise model, we train and equip women to operate solar-powered cold storage and Wi-Fi hubs, enabling them to earn sustainable incomes while delivering critical services to their communities. Over 70% of our micro-franchisees are women, many of whom are single mothers or displaced persons with limited economic opportunities. Youth empowerment is central to our mission: we have trained over 2,000 young people in solar installation, IoT maintenance, and AI applications for smart agriculture—building a skilled green workforce and reducing youth unemployment. Our solutions are designed with inclusive access in mind—offering affordable PAYGO models and USSD-based services to ensure even those without smartphones can benefit. Our leadership team reflects this commitment, with strong representation of women and professionals from diverse backgrounds in energy, agriculture, and data science. By centering our operations in marginalized regions and embedding equity into our model, we are not only addressing climate resilience but also shifting power and opportunity into the hands of those most affected by climate change. We believe true climate action must be inclusive, community-led, and economically empowering.
