Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Our work directly benefits farmers through improved soil health. The benefits are threefold - firstly, their yield quantity and quality improves, thus helping their livelihoods. Secondly, the water requirement for their crop goes down, thus improving their climate resilience in the face of reducing water tables. Thirdly, their dependence on chemical fertilizers goes down, reducing their costs and indebtedness.
To engage better with marginalized farmers, we partner with farmer collectives (referred to as Farmer Producer Companies in India). These collectives each have 500-2500 farmers. They contribute raw material to our biochar plant, purchase the biochar produced and also participate in the profits generated by the plant.
