The African Carbon Catalyst Initiative (ACCI) is Green Voyage’s active, impact-driven program designed to unlock Africa's vast climate potential by systematically developing high-integrity carbon removal and avoidance projects. We move beyond ideation to on-the-ground execution, functioning as the essential implementation engine that bridges ambition with action. ACCI integrates three core components to de-risk and accelerate the carbon project lifecycle across the continent: Technology & Community Deployment: We deploy proven technologies like biochar pyrolysis and plastic upcycling within community-centered models, ensuring local ownership and sustainable impact from day one. AI-Powered Integrity (dMRV): Our proprietary Digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification platform uses IoT and satellite data to provide real-time, auditable proof of impact—ensuring credit quality, reducing verification costs, and building buyer trust. Guaranteed Market Access: Through our exclusive partnership with Consuming Carbon, we provide a direct pipeline to premium international buyers, ensuring projects are not just developed but successfully monetized at their highest value. Currently operational in East Africa, ACCI is already generating verified Carbon Removal Certificates (CORCs) under the Puro.earth standard and creating tangible co-benefits: jobs, restored soils, waste valorization, and empowered communities. We are seeking partnership and support to scale ACCI—transforming it from a successful regional model into a continental framework for credible, profitable, and equitable climate action.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project is community-centered by design and actively empowers underrepresented groups through direct inclusion and leadership. Empowerment in Action: Women & Youth: We prioritize hiring and training women and youth (ages 18–35) as biochar operators, aggregators, and dMRV data collectors—ensuring 60% of field roles are held by these groups. Women-led cooperatives manage feedstock supply and co-product sales, directly sharing revenue. Climate-Vulnerable Communities: We co-design projects with rural and peri-urban communities facing acute climate impacts—like the lakeside communities of Bogoria and Baringo—ensuring they own and benefit from the carbon assets created from their waste and land. Representation in Our Organization: Leadership: Our Strategic Director (Nzisa Kiilu), Director of Projects (Marie Omedo), and Legal Counsel (Lavelyne Muthini) are women in senior leadership roles. Field & Governance: Our on-ground teams in Kenya and Zambia are majority local hires, with explicit recruitment from the communities we serve. Community representatives participate in project steering committees, ensuring accountability and aligned benefit-sharing. We don’t just include underrepresented groups—we position them as owners, operators, and decision-makers in the climate value chain, turning climate vulnerability into leadership and economic agency.
