How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Farmslate is intentionally designed to empower groups that are often underrepresented in climate solutions, particularly women, youth, and climate-vulnerable rural farming communities. Our work focuses on smallholder farmers who are disproportionately affected by climate risk yet have the least access to finance, data, and resilient infrastructure. By enabling access to capital, climate-smart inputs, and reliable market linkages, we help these communities increase incomes, reduce losses, and build long-term resilience. Women play a central role in both our operations and impact. Over 60% of our workforce are women, including in key managerial and leadership positions, ensuring gender-inclusive decision-making. Many of the farmers and value-chain actors we support are women, who benefit from improved access to financing and training in climate-smart practices. Youth empowerment is another core focus. We have trained 200+ rural youths in climate-smart agriculture, hydroponics, and food processing, creating livelihood opportunities while reducing post-harvest losses and emissions. By embedding inclusion into our business model, rather than treating it as a separate program, Farmslate ensures that climate solutions are built with and for the communities most affected by climate change.
