Project Nirmatva is Terrasols’ flagship Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) initiative that accelerates natural mineral weathering by applying finely crushed basalt on farmland. The project removes atmospheric CO₂, regenerates degraded soils, and improves rural livelihoods through a farmer-first, benefit-sharing model supported by scientific monitoring and verified carbon drawdown.

Project Nirmatva directly empowers rural farming communities-one of the most climate-vulnerable and underrepresented groups globally. Our ERW model is built “for farmers, by farmers,” ensuring income diversification, soil restoration, and long-term benefit sharing. By improving soil quality and crop productivity, we help smallholder farmers build resilience against climate stress, drought, and declining soil fertility.

Women farmers are actively included through training programs and field demonstrations, as they play a central role in agricultural decision-making in rural India. Youth from local communities are engaged as field technicians, sample collectors, and data monitors, providing green jobs and climate-tech skill development.

Within Terrasols, leadership includes individuals from rural backgrounds and underrepresented communities, ensuring that decision-making reflects voices often absent in global carbon markets. Our team actively recruits from agricultural universities and rural development institutes to maximize local representation.

Overall, Nirmatva creates a climate solution rooted in community ownership, ensuring that marginalized groups benefit socially, economically, and environmentally from carbon removal.
