How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project actively empowers underrepresented groups, particularly women, youth, and climate-vulnerable communities, by creating opportunities in clean energy production, distribution, and entrepreneurship. Our micro-franchise model enables women and youth to become franchisees, gain technical skills in biomass and bio-fuel production, and generate sustainable income. To date, over 40 individuals from these groups have been trained in clean energy operations and sales, fostering financial independence and leadership skills. Within our organization, underrepresented groups (women) hold key leadership and operational roles. Mrs. Salama Mnyazi Saha, our Community Engagement & Training Lead, specializes in working with women’s groups and youth cooperatives, ensuring that training and franchise support meet their needs. Ms. Christine Muhoro, our Finance & Grants Specialist, ensures transparency and equitable resource allocation. We also have Marion Awuor, who handles the administrative function. Women also play essential roles in administration, operations, and community outreach, shaping organizational decision-making and strategy. Through targeted training, inclusive employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities, BioGold Energy not only expands access to clean energy but also strengthens social equity, empowering underrepresented groups to participate meaningfully in climate solutions and benefit from the economic and environmental opportunities generated by renewable energy adoption.
