Project Summary / Description:
A field based intervention implementing solar-powered dehydration and storage facilities in Konduga, Borno State. The initiative trains smallholder farmers in economic efficiency models to reduce post-harvest losses (methane generation) and transition from diesel-powered irrigation to photovoltaic systems (solar power).
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project serves the Kanuri, Shuwa Arab, Babu and Hausa rural populations in Borno State, a region historically marginalized and devastated by insurgency. We specifically empower: 1. Rural Youth: By integrating technology (Solar/Drones) into farming, we make agriculture attractive to educated youths who would otherwise migrate to cities, reducing rural brain drain. 2. Smallholder Farmers: We democratize access to energy. Typically, only wealthy farmers can afford reliable irrigation. Our cooperative 'sharing model' gives the poorest farmers access to state-of-the-art solar irrigation, leveling the economic playing field

Mission Statement:
Our mission is to help Sahelian farmers fight climate change by replacing diesel pumps with solar power and introducing better storage methods. By preventing food waste and cutting greenhouse gas emissions, we create a cleaner, more profitable agricultural system for rural communities.
