How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
GreenBox™ actively empowers underrepresented groups, particularly women, youth, and rural smallholder farmers, who are often excluded from climate action decision-making. Our model prioritizes hiring women to manage operations and revenue collection at GreenBox™ stations, fostering financial independence and leadership opportunities. To date, 80% of the 3,000 smallholder farmers we serve are women, ensuring their direct participation in building sustainable food systems. Youth engagement is central to our mission. Through our “Everyone, Teach One” program, we have trained over 500 young women in renewable energy, practical technical skills, and equipment maintenance, equipping the next generation of climate innovators in rural communities. We also empower climate-vulnerable communities by increasing access to nutritious food, reducing post-harvest losses, and providing affordable clean energy solutions. These interventions directly strengthen resilience to climate-related food insecurity. Within our organization, underrepresented groups hold critical leadership roles: women lead key operations, youth contribute to product development and field operations, and local community members are included in decision-making processes. By combining economic empowerment, skill-building, and inclusive governance, GreenBox™ ensures that climate solutions are co-created with those most affected, amplifying their voice and agency in the climate movement.
