How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
We significantly benefit marginalized communities by integrating them into formal circular economy through job creation, capacity building, and fair compensation for plastic waste collection. Our business model is designed with social impact at its core, specifically targeting youth and women from low-income, marginalized areas who often face high unemployment and limited income opportunities. • Job Creation: We have created thousands of direct and indirect income opportunities for waste pickers, operators, and distributors. The company aims to create 100,000 jobs over the next 15 years. • Formalization and Fair Wages: The initiative helps formalize the informal waste picking sector, ensuring workers receive stable and fair income, as opposed to being exploited by middlemen. • Entrepreneurial Support: In partnership with organizations like Universities, We provide entrepreneurial start-up kits that include essential tools like shredders, weighing scales, and balers. This equipment allows waste collectors to add value to the materials they gather and supply other recyclers, effectively building their own small businesses. . The primary beneficiaries are: • Women: A significant portion of the waste collectors are women from lower economic backgrounds with few alternative income sources. • Youth: Young people (aged 15-34) who represent a large percentage of unemployed population.
