How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
ADES creates jobs for both men and women planting over 1,000,000 trees and restoring 1,000 acres of degraded land in Madagascar. Working with local NGOs and community groups, ADES helps fund projects and educates communities about the importance of forest preservation. Native trees are planted to protect biodiversity, alongside fast-growing trees that provide alternative fuel sources. Cash crops are also planted to provide food, nutrition, and income, linking poverty reduction with environmental conservation. The Reseller Empowerment Project trains and empowers people to sell stoves and raise awareness of Madagascar’s environmental challenges. Resellers generating over 65% of cooker sales, strengthening ADES' distribution network. Over 300 active resellers, predominantly women, earn additional income across all regions of Madagascar, helping to stabilize households financially. Between 2026 and 2028, this network will grow to 350 resellers. The average additional income will rise to 86–90 percent of the national average wage – a significant driver for women’s economic independence. ADES’ stove project follows the Leave No One Behind (LNOB) principle, prioritizing the poorest regions where over 90% of the population lives below the poverty line. Stove prices are adjusted to local purchasing power to ensure affordability.
