How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project supports climate-vulnerable communities by enabling methane capture at under-resourced waste sites, especially open dumps. This reduces emissions and improves safety by lowering the risk of underground fires, minimizing odors, and preventing groundwater contamination. These improvements are especially critical in areas where families scavenge for resources. Captured methane also enables local energy generation, improving access to electricity, heat, or fuel. As we expand into the Global South, we will work with local operators, technicians, and partners to deploy and maintain our system. Having said that, within our organization, there's room for improvement in terms of representation. Our team of 12 includes 8 nationalities across 4 continents, mostly under 30, but we are striving to further improve representation in terms of women and people of color.

Mission Statement:
Hydryx transforms landfills from climate liabilities into climate assets by increasing methane capture and converting it into clean energy. We link climate impact to a strong business case by enabling landfill operators to generate more revenue from their landfills, making further mitigation investments both attractive and economically viable.
