Bumbi centers climate solutions in the hands of communities most affected by plastic pollution and climate risk: low-income women, people with disabilities, and families living near rivers. These groups are disproportionately harmed by waste-related emissions yet are often excluded from climate innovation and green jobs.
Our reusable diapers and menstrual pads are produced through inclusive local manufacturing units that prioritize employment for low-income women and people with disabilities, creating dignified green jobs. Workers receive skills training, quality certification, and opportunities to advance into supervisory and trainer roles.
Women also lead behavior-change delivery. We partner with midwives, nurses, and community health workers as trusted messengers to integrate reusable care into hospitals, clinics, and home visits, ensuring rapid and sustained adoption. Youth are engaged through school programs and campaigns that promote reuse and plastic reduction, building early climate leadership and lifelong sustainable habits, including choosing reusable menstrual products.
Communities are not passive recipients. Families co-design education tools, and micro-finance schemes that overcome upfront cost barriers while delivering long-term savings of up to 70 percent. Bumbi, a women-led social enterprise, with leadership, field teams, and production staff drawn directly from the communities we serve, ensuring climate action is locally governed, equitable, and scalable.

Bumbi’s mission is to make reusable diapers and pads a social norm, replacing unrecyclable plastic waste with locally made circular solutions. By preventing waste and emissions, Bumbi protects health, climate, and dignity, reducing exposure to pathogens and pollution linked to antimicrobial resistance through systems scalable city by city, nationally, globally.
