Name of Project:
Year Project Originated:
Project Summary / Description:
This initiative consists of designing, deploying and maintaining decentralized solar photovoltaic systems to replace diesel generators in communities, SMEs, schools and health centers in the Democratic Republic of Congo. To date, 98 operational installations avoid around 1,960 tonnes of CO₂ per year, while strengthening local energy resilience and creating skilled jobs. The project is replicable and aims to extend its impact to other vulnerable regions.
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project empowers underrepresented groups by targeting climate-vulnerable communities, particularly in rural and underserved areas of the DRC, where access to electricity is limited. We promote the employment and training of local youth and technicians, equitably including women and members of marginalized communities at every stage of solar installations. Within Solar Creative Engineering, these groups are represented in technical, project management, and community coordination roles, ensuring that decisions and actions reflect the needs and perspectives of the people directly affected. This approach strengthens inclusion, local ownership, and the sustainable social and climate impact of our initiatives.
