How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Mercredi Solution prioritizes engagement with climate-vulnerable and marginalized communities, particularly small and marginal farmers, women-headed households, and youth in flood-prone districts of Bihar and Assam. These groups are disproportionately affected by climate shocks, livestock losses, and fodder scarcity, yet often lack access to technical knowledge, resources, or relief support. Our project empowers them by providing training and employment opportunities in fodder collection, processing, and distribution. Women and youth are actively recruited as field coordinators and community mobilizers, enabling income generation while strengthening local capacity. By integrating local knowledge and participatory decision-making, the project ensures that the needs and priorities of these underrepresented groups shape intervention strategies. Within our organization, women occupy leadership and operational roles, including project management, field coordination, and monitoring, ensuring diverse perspectives in planning and execution. Youth participation is encouraged through internships, skill development programs, and community outreach initiatives, cultivating the next generation of climate-resilient leaders. Through these approaches, the project not only delivers climate mitigation and adaptation impacts, but also promotes equitable access to resources, skills, and leadership, helping historically marginalized groups become active participants in climate solutions rather than passive recipients.
Mission Statement:
To build climate-resilient livestock systems by transforming crop residues into nutritious fodder, preventing residue burning, and safeguarding farmer livelihoods—especially in flood- and climate-vulnerable regions—while delivering measurable climate mitigation and sustainable rural impact.
