Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Camino Verde’s work centers around indigenous and rural Amazonian communities who are both climate‑vulnerable and historically excluded from climate finance. Indigenous federations (FECONA and FECONAMAI) co-design activities, approve agreements, and guide implementation through community assemblies, ensuring representation and shared governance. Women and youth are prioritized in nursery management, ecological monitoring, and leadership roles. The project employs two permanent community-based promotores who support participating families, maintain technical oversight, and receive ongoing capacity building. More than 60% of participating families have women as primary or active decision-makers in land-use and income-generating activities.


Within the organization, local staff lead day‑to‑day operations, and long‑term presence in the region has enabled leadership roles to be filled by people rooted in the landscapes most affected by climate change. By shifting climate action from extraction‑driven mitigation to Amazonian farmer forest stewardship, the project ensures that those most impacted by climate change are shaping and directly benefiting from the solution.
