Project Summary / Description:
This initiative deploys passive fog and cloud water collection systems to provide low-carbon water supply in regions where water is currently delivered using diesel transport or other energy-intensive methods. The systems use biomimetic collection surfaces and gravity-driven infrastructure to produce water without operational energy use. The initiative builds on validated international deployments and focuses on scaling the technology into new climatic and operational contexts, enabling measurable and scalable greenhouse gas emissions reductions while improving water security for agricultural, industrial, and environmental users.
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our solutions are deployed primarily in climate-vulnerable communities—including rural, coastal, and Indigenous-adjacent regions—where water scarcity disproportionately affects livelihoods, health, and economic stability. By providing a zero-energy, non-extractive water source, we reduce reliance on costly and carbon-intensive water supply systems, strengthening local resilience while avoiding conflicts over groundwater and shared resources. These deployments support farmers, rural workers, and communities that are often excluded from large-scale infrastructure investments. Organizationally, Permalution is women-founded and women-led, with our CEO and founder driving strategy, technology deployment, and partnerships. Women hold leadership roles across operations, commercialization, and project execution. Our global team is intentionally diverse, spanning Latin America, North America, Europe, and the Middle East, and includes professionals from communities historically underrepresented in cleantech and engineering. We also collaborate with local partners, NGOs, and community stakeholders to ensure projects create local employment, skills transfer, and long-term stewardship, particularly engaging youth and local technicians during installation and monitoring phases.
