CommunityLab's initiative consists of enabling organizations to close cycles and move towards "zero waste" through a data-based circular economy. We accompany pilots, alliances with managers and applied R&D, and scale solutions that reduce availability, replace virgin raw materials and reduce emissions.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

CommunityLab empowers underrepresented groups by turning circular economy projects into inclusive local value chains. In Colombia, waste recovery depends heavily on informal and semi-formal recyclers (waste pickers) and small local operators. Our projects strengthen their role by improving source separation, increasing material quality, and formalizing transparent handoffs (weights, prices, destinations) through traceability—helping channel more stable demand and better working conditions through verified flows.
We also work in climate-vulnerable communities and emerging cities, where landfill dependence is high and infrastructure is uneven. By building practical “zero waste” systems (training, signage, operational routines, and partner networks), we enable local jobs, skills development, and access to circular markets.
Representation in our organization: CommunityLab is women-led at the executive level, and we intentionally build multidisciplinary teams and partner ecosystems that include local SMEs, recyclers, and community actors. We integrate capacity-building in each deployment so operational staff, contractors, and local partners can sustain improvements beyond the pilot phase.

Mission Statement:

Convertir “residuos” en recursos, acelerando el cierre de ciclos, avance hacia operaciones  “zero waste”. Combinamos capacidades:  diagnóstico ,flujos de materiales y oportunidades de valorización; co-creación de rutas de circularidad y simbiosis industrial; y tecnología de trazabilidad y medición (CircularTrace) para monitorear indicadores ambientales y económicos, I+D aplicada en nuevos materiales.
