Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

This project will empower groups that are often underrepresented in climate solutions by embedding climate action within essential public services that serve diverse and vulnerable populations. Nepal APF Hospital provides healthcare not only to Armed Police Force personnel and their families, but also to civilians from surrounding communities, including women, children, elderly patients and low-income households who are disproportionately affected by environmental and health risks.
Reducing air pollution, unsafe waste handling and methane emissions, the project directly improves health and safety conditions for patients, visitors, and healthcare worker particularly support staff, waste handlers and nurses. Many of whom are women and face elevated occupational risks. Safer and cleaner healthcare waste management practices reduces exposure to harmful pollutants and creates a safer workplace.
The project will also benefit Armed Police Force personnel and their families living within and adjacent to the hospital compound, who are or may be exposed daily to waste-related environmental impacts. Through staff training, inclusive participation in waste segregation and engagement of hospital workers across respective roles, the project builds climate awareness and practical capacity within a traditionally underrepresented sector of the climate movement.
