Safepad Bangladesh empowers groups historically underrepresented in the climate movement by placing women,youth,and climate vulnerable communities at the center of both impact and participation.Women and girls who bear a disproportionate burden of menstrual hygiene challenges and climate vulnerability are the primary beneficiaries of Safepad’s reusable hygiene solutions,gaining improved health,dignity,and economic relief while reducing environmental harm.
Safepad actively engages adolescents by conducting school based awareness sessions where girls as young as 13 years old learn about menstrual health,sustainable hygiene,and climate impact.These early interventions ensure that climate conscious behavior begins at the onset of menstruation,when lifelong habits are formed.
Safepad uniquely addresses hygiene needs across closely connected life stages.Infancy and postpartum periods often overlap within the same household,where disposable baby diapers and postpartum menstrual products generate concentrated plastic waste and emissions.Safepad provides reusable baby diapers and postpartum menstrual pads together within this critical timeline,reducing environmental impact while supporting maternal and child health simultaneously.
Safepad also advances gender inclusion.In collaboration with UNDP,gender neutral products were co designed and transgender communities were engaged in production,outreach,and livelihoods.By integrating climate action with health and dignity,Safepad enables underrepresented communities to actively shape and scale climate solutions.
