Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Radava Grain Bank empowers smallholder farmers in the North Rift of Kenya, a climate-vulnerable region, many of whom are women and youth—groups traditionally underrepresented in climate action and agricultural finance. These farmers face disproportionate exposure to climate shocks, limited access to markets, and barriers to formal financial services, which constrain their ability to adopt climate-smart practices.

By providing quality-assured storage, digital grain records, and access to Radava Finance, the Grain Bank enables farmers to secure higher, more predictable incomes, reduce distress selling, and invest in sustainable practices. Women and youth benefit directly through cooperative-led decision-making, inclusive training programs, and capacity-building on climate-smart agriculture, financial literacy, and digital tools.

Within Radava, underrepresented groups actively participate in leadership and operations. The organization is co-founded and led by a young woman, and staff and partner cooperatives include women and youth in leadership and operational roles, ensuring their perspectives shape project design and implementation.
