Project Summary / Description:
Gracity is an urban climate intelligence platform that provides Digital Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (D-MRV) for green urban assets. We transform physical nature, such as urban forests and green roofs, into auditable climate data, bridging the gap between nature-based solutions and institutional finance.
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
GraCity is led by a female founder and CEO, Yajaira MartÃnez, who brings a diverse perspective to the male-dominated climate-tech space. Beyond our internal team, our project directly serves climate-vulnerable urban communities. These populations often reside in "heat islands" with minimal green space. By providing the data and financing needed to green these specific neighborhoods, we address "environmental poverty", improving local air quality and reducing heat-related health risks for those who cannot afford private cooling solutions.
