Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Car Pool Malawi is a project born in the Global South, led by a Malawian team that represents the very communities most vulnerable to climate change. We empower underrepresented groups through three key pillars: 1. Economic Justice for Youth and Women: Transport costs in Malawi consume up to 40% of disposable income for young professionals and women in the informal sector. By enabling shared rides, we provide immediate financial relief, allowing these groups to redirect savings toward education and health. 2. Safety and Inclusion: Safety is a major barrier for women using public transit. Our "Trust Circles" and "Women-Only" matching filters empower women to commute securely, increasing their participation in the workforce while reducing their carbon footprint. 3. Representation in Leadership: Our organization is 100% African-led, with a commitment to maintaining at least 50% youth representation in our core operations team. We aren't just building for the community; we are the community. By training local youth in AI and data analytics through our platform's development, we are equipping the next generation of Malawian climate leaders with high-tech skills.
