Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Carbonsate empowers underrepresented and climate-vulnerable groups, mainly in the Global South, by expanding access to carbon removal and enabling direct participation in the climate solution economy. Many carbon removal approaches are concentrated in industrialised regions and rely on capital-intensive infrastructure, limiting who can participate and benefit. Carbonsate’s decentralised model allows projects to be implemented in regions that have historically been excluded, creating local economic participation around durable carbon removal.

In regions such as Namibia, projects are developed with local partners and landowners, generating income opportunities and building operational capacity using locally available biomass resources. Beyond individual projects, Carbonsate’s long-term structure is designed to further strengthen local representation. As the organisation scales, Carbonsate plans to establish local operating entities in project regions, with local partners as direct participants and equity holders. This structure is intended to ensure that local perspectives and interests are embedded within the organisation itself, rather than treated as external inputs.
