How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Pollen Patrollers empowers underrepresented groups by intentionally centering women, youth, and climate-vulnerable smallholder communities in both its solution design and implementation. The project works primarily with rural farmers and beekeepers who are often excluded from digital climate innovations, providing affordable tools and training that are accessible in low-connectivity environments through USSD, chatbots, and in-person support. Through the #Patrollers4Her initiative, the project trains and employs women and youth as field agents, IoT technicians, and agri-trainers, creating income opportunities, technical skills, and leadership pathways within the climate and agriculture sectors. These roles enable women and young people not only to benefit from the innovation, but also to actively drive its adoption and scale within their communities. Representation is embedded within the organization itself. Pollen Patrollers is a women-led enterprise, with women holding executive leadership roles across strategy, operations, and business development. The broader team reflects the communities served, bringing lived experience of smallholder farming and rural livelihoods. By combining inclusive leadership with community-based delivery, the project strengthens participation, agency, and long-term ownership of climate solutions among groups traditionally underrepresented in the climate movement.
