This initiative aims to strengthen climate resilience, food security, and community livelihoods through large-scale tree planting. By integrating both fruit and non-fruit species, the project delivers dual benefits:

- Nutritional & Economic Value: Fruit trees provide sustainable sources of food, nutrition, and income for households.

- Resilience Building: Trees act as natural buffers against climate shocks, reducing erosion, improving water retention, and supporting ecosystem health.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Our project is designed to place underrepresented groups at the center of climate action. In Nkhotakota District, Malawi, women and youth are engaged as custodians of the 25,000 trees already planted, ensuring they benefit directly from both fruit harvests and long-term environmental restoration. Women are trained in nursery management, tree care, and income generation from fruit sales, strengthening their economic independence and leadership in climate-smart livelihoods. Youth groups are mobilized to lead monitoring and awareness campaigns, building skills in environmental stewardship and data collection while fostering a new generation of climate leaders.

Climate-vulnerable households, often marginalized in development programs, are prioritized for participation, receiving training and resources to integrate tree planting with food security and water conservation. Within our organization, women hold leadership roles in program management and donor engagement, while youth are represented in field teams and community mobilization units. This inclusive structure ensures that decision-making reflects the voices of those most affected by climate change. By embedding equity into both project design and organizational leadership, we empower underrepresented groups not only to adapt to climate impacts but to drive scalable, replicable solutions for resilience and sustainability.
