Peco Power is deeply committed to empowering underrepresented groups both through our service and our internal structure. We operate in climate-vulnerable rural and peri-urban communities where energy poverty disproportionately affects households. Our "Champion" model creates micro-enterprises for local entrepreneurs—predominantly people of color and youth—providing them with technical skills and sustainable livelihoods. Ultimately, our work impacts everyone in these regions by providing reliable power that fundamentally improves quality of life across the board.

Internally, our organization reflects our mission. Our team is led by a diverse group of South African professionals, and we take great pride in our youth-centric engineering and production divisions. For example, our leadership includes young professionals like Muhammed Aswat (CTO, 32), Rodney Landsberg (Business Development, 32), and Sivuyile Foster (Projects Manager, 29), alongside several engineering interns currently completing their degrees. Furthermore, women hold critical leadership and financial roles, such as Vivienne Solomons (Legal & HR) and Safiyyah Aswat (Head of Accounting). By bridging the gap between high-level university research and grassroots economic activity, we ensure that those most affected by the energy transition are leading it.
