How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project is intentionally designed to empower women, youth, and climate-vulnerable coastal and rural communities, who are often underrepresented in climate action and decision-making. We prioritize these groups in training, employment, and leadership opportunities within Azolla and seaweed production. Women and youth are supported to manage production sites, processing units, and cooperative marketing structures, enabling them to gain technical skills, stable income, and entrepreneurial experience. This strengthens both economic independence and community resilience. Because our production systems use low-cost, locally available materials and simple technologies, they are accessible to people with limited capital and formal education. This allows marginalized groups to participate directly in climate-positive enterprises rather than remaining only beneficiaries. Within our organization, women and young professionals are represented in technical, operational, and coordination roles, including site management, training facilitation, and community mobilization. We actively promote inclusive leadership by ensuring that community representatives participate in planning, monitoring, and decision-making processes. By combining livelihood creation, skills transfer, and environmental action, our project transforms underrepresented groups into climate solution leaders, ensuring that climate mitigation is inclusive, locally owned, and socially just.
