How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Communities living in the he Hindu Kush Himalayan region (in Nepal) are at the forefront of impacts of climate change. In Nepal 80% of the total population is at risk of the climate change, of which 35% is from traditionally underrepresented communities. GI collects disaggregated data according to age, gender and ethnicity, showing over 30% of the TGI projects beneficiaries are from marginalized groups (e.g. Tamang). And a large portion of our participators are female, since as per the National Agriculture Census Nepal (2022), around 62 percent of the women are employed in agriculture in Nepal. Additionally amongst the participants various examples of young Nepali returning from the Golf, that came back to set up a new life in Nepal, can be found. We ensure the meaningful engagement of marginalised groups in climate action by providing them with the essential skills and knowledge on productive tree plantation and caretaking, thereby promoting a more varied and inclusive movement and access to technological solutions. Through these initiatives, we provide marginalised communities with the tools to take care of their surroundings and fight climate change, giving them a sense of empowerment and ownership.
