Tempo Beverages’ Netanya facility is replacing heavy fuel oil-fired boilers with a 32 MWh bGen™ electric thermal energy storage system to decarbonize industrial heat production. The system charges primarily during off-peak hours, at roughly 25% of peak electricity costs, and delivers saturated steam on demand, including peak loads up to 14 tons/hour versus a nominal 4-5 tons/hour. This flexibility enables continuous 24/7 steam supply while eliminating approximately 2,000 tons of heavy fuel oil use and mitigating over 6,200 tons of CO₂ emissions annually.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
The Tempo Project supports underrepresented groups primarily through workforce participation, regional economic development, and leadership representation within a large-scale industrial decarbonization initiative. Key project leadership roles are held by women, including Ronit Sade, who is responsible for Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) and Quality Assurance and serves as the primary point of contact for Tempo Beverages, and Merav Gilad, who leads the project’s engineering and system integration efforts. Beyond the project site, the technology’s core modules (bCubes) are manufactured at Brenmiller Energy’s facility in the Negev Desert, which also hosts the company’s long-running demonstration site where over a decade of desert operation validated thermal energy storage durability and performance. Manufacturing and operations in the Negev support regional communities by employing local staff and building a supplier network that includes metal fabrication, equipment, logistics, transport, and ancillary services. By anchoring advanced clean energy manufacturing and engineering activity in the Negev and engaging local partners from Dimona, Be’er Sheva, and surrounding communities, the project contributes to inclusive economic participation while delivering scalable climate impact.
