Project Summary / Description:
A diesel generator emits carbon dioxide (CO2) during operation and grid based electricity is usually generated with coal, oil or natural gas which also emits considerable quantities of CO2. In contrast a solar water pump system does not result in greenhouse gas emissions. Extensive use of solar water pumps would therefore lead to substantial greenhouse gas emission reductions which are environmental friendly. Solar water pumps operate with zero carbon footprints and improve the environment while diesel pumps are ozone depletion, aquatic Eco toxicity, terrestrial Eco toxicity and Global warming. The capacity building aspect on the use and maintenance of the solar water pump system together with the sustainable agricultural practices given to small holder farmers will ensure the sustainability of the initiative. The system has little or no cost of maintenance as compared to diesel motor pump.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project is intentionally designed to empower groups that are underrepresented in the climate movement, particularly women, climate-vulnerable rural communities, and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Cameroon. Women make up nearly 80% of small-scale farmers in our target areas, yet they have limited access to land, finance, and clean energy technologies. By prioritizing women-headed households, the project places women at the center of climate solutions rather than as beneficiaries alone. Women are organized into farming groups and trained in the use and management of solar water pumping systems, climate-smart agriculture, and small-scale agribusiness. This improves food security, reduces labor burdens, increases income, and strengthens resilience to climate shocks. Leadership and governance training further empowers women to manage resources, make collective decisions, and advocate within their communities. The project also supports IDPs and highly climate-vulnerable households by providing access to productive assets and livelihoods that reduce dependency on aid. Youth are engaged through technical roles in installation, maintenance, and agricultural support, building green skills and local employment. Within our organization, women are strongly represented in community leadership structures and beneficiary decision-making, ensuring that project design and implementation reflect lived realities and promote inclusive, locally led climate action.
