SNAPP empowers youth and underrepresented communities by making ocean and freshwater science accessible, practical, and data‑driven. We believe people care most about what they can relate to, which is often what they experience. Yet, meaningful engagement with aquatic environments is often restricted by high costs, safety requirements, and equipment barriers. Through collaborations with regional universities, local NGOs, and community‑led aquaculture projects, we enable students, early‑career researchers, and local workers in coastal and climate‑vulnerable regions to gain hands‑on experience in environmental monitoring, data literacy, and aquatic robotics. By lowering the need for expensive diving operations, our technology opens opportunities for participation in blue economy projects that were previously limited to well‑funded research programs. Our workshops and field programs also encourage citizen science. We invite anyone curious about water, marine life, or climate to contribute to real environmental datasets. This approach builds local capacity for long‑term stewardship and creates a sense of shared ownership over aquatic ecosystems. Internally, over half of SNAPP’s team and collaborators are early‑career professionals from Asia‑Pacific regions most affected by climate change. This reflects our commitment to diversity, opportunity, and equitable access to knowledge.

Mission Statement:
SNAPP aims to drastically reduce costs associated with deploying and monitoring blue carbon projects. Through its robotic fish, camera, and sensor technology, it ensures the best chance of carbon abatement by these projects, autonomously collecting real-time environmental data that scientifically inform management of blue carbon areas.
