How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
EcoRecy empowers underrepresented groups by making climate action accessible, inclusive, and rewarding. Our digital incentive system is designed to engage youth, women, and climate-vulnerable communities who are often excluded from traditional recycling and sustainability programs. By linking recycling participation to tangible rewards, EcoRecy creates opportunities for these groups to benefit directly from climate-positive behavior, turning environmental responsibility into economic and social value. In Tunisia, youth unemployment and limited civic engagement present challenges, but EcoRecy transforms young citizens into active climate actors by integrating technology and gamification. Women, who are frequently underrepresented in waste management and green-tech sectors, are central to our outreach campaigns and community partnerships, ensuring their leadership and participation. Climate-vulnerable communities, particularly in urban and peri-urban areas, gain improved waste management services and reduced exposure to pollution, directly enhancing health and resilience. Within our organization, representation is embedded in our leadership and operations. EcoRecy’s team includes women and young professionals in technical, outreach, and management roles, reflecting our commitment to diversity. By empowering marginalized groups both externally and internally, EcoRecy demonstrates that inclusive participation is essential to scaling climate solutions and achieving systemic impact.
Mission Statement:
EcoRecy’s mission is to accelerate the circular economy by automating recycling and incentivizing citizen participation through digital rewards. We aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from waste mismanagement, empower communities with sustainable practices, and scale our model nationally and internationally for maximum climate impact.
