Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Our project directly empowers women, youth, and climate-vulnerable communities by placing them at the center of both the clean-energy solution and the economic opportunity it creates. In our communities, women and girls are most affected by charcoal smoke, rising fuel prices, and deforestation because they are primarily responsible for cooking and fuel collection. By providing affordable, clean-burning briquettes, we improve household health while reducing the time and money women spend on fuel.
We also prioritize women and youth in our workforce. They are engaged in waste collection, briquette production, packaging, and sales, giving them steady income and practical skills in a growing green economy. These groups are also represented in leadership. The project is founded and led by a young African woman, and women hold key roles in community engagement, sales, and operations. Youth are involved in production and logistics, helping drive innovation and local ownership.

By combining clean energy access with job creation and leadership opportunities, our Waste-to-Energy-Briquettes project ensures that those most affected by climate change are also those who benefit most from the solution.
