How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
The Lidsam project empowers underrepresented and climate-vulnerable groups by placing them at the center of decision-making, implementation, and benefits. The project primarily works with rural and low-income communities that are disproportionately affected by climate change yet have limited access to clean energy and climate resources. Women are a key focus, as they are most impacted by energy poverty and environmental degradation. We prioritize women’s participation in training on solar, biogas, tree nursery management, and climate-smart agriculture, enabling them to gain technical skills, reduce unpaid labor, and generate income. Youth are engaged as community climate champions and technicians, providing them with employable skills while strengthening local capacity for system maintenance and data collection. Community members are involved in project design through participatory planning, ensuring solutions reflect local needs and knowledge. Organizationally, the project is community-led, with leadership and field teams drawn largely from the same climate-vulnerable populations we serve. Women and youth are represented in governance, implementation teams, and monitoring roles, ensuring inclusive leadership and accountability while building long-term resilience and ownership within the climate movement.
