Project Summary / Description:
Demonstration and dissemination of complete no-till technology using crop rotation (annual legumes), field mulching, soil slitting and mounding to retain moisture, innovative microbiological (mycorrhiza) and biological (biorizon) preparations. To date, no-till technology in Kyrgyzstan is used 50% (direct seed drills, disc harrows) without crop rotation and field mulching. No-till technology is not widely used in Kyrgyzstan due to the lack of a significant increase in grain yields, grass growth, and livestock grazing in the fields due to a lack of feed. Cropping rotation, field mulching, soil slitting and mole plowing, and innovative preparations have great potential to increase the productivity of rain-fed fields. Solar-powered electric fences will be used to protect crops. Hydroponic grain germination technology will be proposed as an alternative to straw to solve the feed problem. All of this will be widely demonstrated and shown to a wide range of farmers, rural entrepreneurs, advisory services, donor organizations, and government agencies involved in agriculture through social media.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Young people from the university and students will be involved in the laboratory's activities, such as internships, visiting farmers' fields, collecting soil samples, and analyzing them. Many families do not use rain-fed land because of livestock and the lack of effective agricultural services. Cooperatives involved in the project will provide much-needed technical services, maintain equipment in working order, and upgrade it. Farmers' communities can protect fields and crops from livestock using solar electric fences around the perimeter of their fields. We are working with representatives of national minorities and vulnerable rural populations, involving them in the project. Single women and single-parent families in rural areas who own land but are unable to use it will be involved in the project first, as the technology requires minimal manual labor. Funds are provided on a repayable basis by existing microcredit agencies, which supply farmers with seeds and fertilizers.

Mission Statement:
Innovations in agriculture should be implemented and disseminated! Climate change urgently requires a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. The transition of many to no-till will ensure the preservation of large amounts of carbon in the soil. Constantly work on scaling up the know-till technology.
