How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
HappyPower is built by and for groups that have historically been underrepresented. Our founder is a woman, and over 80% of our leadership team are women. Two founding members are physically disabled, and two team members are neurodivergent. More than 90% of our team members are under 30. We actively recruit and welcome team members from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, abilities, disciplines, and lived experiences. Our projects intentionally center everyday individuals, especially youth and climate-vulnerable communities, as active **energy creators**, not passive recipients of aid. Through co-design processes, children and residents help design, build, and operate play-powered energy infrastructure, gaining agency, technical understanding, and local ownership of clean energy systems. This approach has been applied in dense urban villages, rural communities, and disaster-prone regions where access to reliable energy is limited. HappyPower’s products follow inclusive design principles and employ collaborative play mechanics to ensure accessibility across age, ability, and physical strength. Installations are designed to function in off-grid and emergency contexts, where marginalized communities are often most affected by climate disruption. By embedding clean energy into joyful, everyday activities, HappyPower lowers barriers to participation and expands who can engage meaningfully in climate action, turning play into an equitable pathway to resilience.

Mission Statement:
HappyPower’s mission is to integrate clean energy generation into public spaces and daily routines by transforming play into power. We are building a behavior-driven energy system that uses play-based infrastructure as its physical interface, combining modular hardware and digital platforms to convert everyday human activity into measurable, usable clean electricity.
