How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Empowering Underrepresented Groups RVM Nepal’s project directly empowers climate-vulnerable and underrepresented groups, particularly smallholder farmers, women, and youth in rural and peri-urban areas. By providing affordable, ESCO-based cold storage and cold logistics services, the project reduces post-harvest losses that disproportionately affect women farmers and informal producers, improving income stability and food security. Women-led cooperatives and producer groups are prioritized as service users and partners, and flexible pricing models enable participation by small-scale farmers with limited capital. The project also creates local employment opportunities for youth through training in cold chain operations, solar-hybrid energy systems, and thermal energy storage maintenance, building technical and green-jobs skills in underserved regions. Within RVM Nepal, women and youth are represented in operational, coordination, and monitoring roles, with a commitment to inclusive hiring and capacity building. The organization works closely with local cooperatives, municipalities, and community groups to ensure decision-making reflects local needs. By strengthening climate-resilient infrastructure in high-risk regions and expanding economic opportunities, RVM Nepal ensures that underrepresented communities are not only beneficiaries but active participants in climate solutions.
