How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project empowers underrepresented groups by prioritizing inclusive participation in urban wetland restoration. Women and youth are actively engaged through citizen science programs, educational workshops, and local stewardship initiatives, ensuring their voices shape project design and monitoring. The impact on indigenous peoples will depend on the selection of specific wetland sites—where indigenous communities are present and active, we seek collaboration to respect and integrate traditional knowledge; in other urban wetlands, this may not apply. Citizen science activities are designed to complement expert scientific monitoring, broadening community involvement without replacing technical rigor. Within our organization, women and young professionals hold key roles in leadership, planning, and technical implementation, reflecting our commitment to diversity. By focusing on urban areas, we reach climate-vulnerable populations who may lack access to environmental decision-making, and our open data platforms foster empowerment and long-term engagement among groups historically underrepresented in the climate movement.
