Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Sands of Time is intentionally designed to empower communities underrepresented in the global climate movement. The project focuses on coastal African cities: Lagos, Accra, and Dar es Salaam, where residents face disproportionate climate risks from unregulated sand mining, fossil fuel extraction, and land degradation. By hiring and collaborating with creatives from these climate-vulnerable communities, including artists, 3D modelers, animators, and storytellers, the project ensures local voices are central to the narrative and economic benefits are directly distributed to those most affected.

The team is also committed to gender equity and youth participation, prioritizing the inclusion of women and young professionals in both creative and technical roles. These efforts address historical disparities in access to creative, technological, and climate-focused work opportunities in the region.

Through the VR experience, Sands of Time amplifies the perspectives of people of color and climate-vulnerable populations to a global audience, bridging geographic and cultural gaps. This representation is not only ethical but also strengthens the educational and advocacy power of the project, enabling participants worldwide to witness environmental injustices firsthand. By combining authentic storytelling, capacity building, and global engagement, the project empowers underrepresented groups to shape climate discourse and influence policy decisions that affect their communities
