How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
According to our document from 2023, we empower underrepresented groups by turning e-waste skills into income and leadership, especially for women, youth, refugees/immigrants, and persons with disabilities (SDGs 4, 5, 8, 12, 13). In Nairobi, we trained 50 young environmental ambassadors in repair and responsible e-waste management, including women/girls and refugees; 100% passed the assessments, and post-graduation outcomes included apprenticeships (60%), new repair micro-shops (20%), and employment (20%). To reach those commonly excluded, we are scaling Tech on Wheels (a solar-powered mobile lab) because traditional fixed hubs can be costly and geographically inaccessible; Year 1 targets include 3,000 trainees with 60% women and 10% persons with disabilities. Representation is reflected in our leadership and delivery: our Board Chair is Karen Thuranira, and our Co-Founder/Lead Trainer Margaret Wangechi has trained 2,000+ women, girls, and unemployed youth in digital literacy and e-waste skills.

Mission Statement:
Franky’s Foundation exists to equip underserved youth, young mothers, PWDS, refugees and women with practical digital and green skills, especially electronics repair and responsible e-waste management, so they can earn dignified incomes while accelerating a circular economy that reduces pollution and greenhouse gas emissions across Kenya and sub-Saharan Africa.
