How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
The Solar Giraffe is designed and implemented with communities that are often excluded from mainstream climate solutions, including rural, low‑income, and climate‑vulnerable populations. By providing reliable renewable energy in these areas, the project directly empowers groups who face the greatest barriers to participation in the energy transition. Our installation and maintenance teams are recruited locally, ensuring that community members, especially youth and underrepresented groups, gain technical skills, leadership opportunities, and ownership over the infrastructure. We actively work toward gender balance in all field teams, creating pathways for women to participate in roles traditionally dominated by men, from technical installation to community training and system management. This approach not only diversifies the climate workforce but also strengthens long‑term stewardship of each installation. Within our organization, women and community members from the regions we serve hold key roles in coordination, outreach, and decision‑making, ensuring that the project reflects the priorities and lived experiences of those most affected by climate and energy inequities.
