Project Summary / Description:
Our Project SokoFarm Regenerative Carbon Program (SRCP) empowers smallholder farmers to adopt regenerative agriculture practices that increase soil organic carbon and improve crop yields. Leveraging digital soil monitoring and AI-driven advisories, the program verifies carbon sequestration, generates carbon credits, and provides farmers with additional income enhancing both their livelihoods and climate resilience.
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
To achieve our 5-year vision, we will use a diversified funding approach combining grants, carbon credit sales, partnerships, and impact investments to ensure financial sustainability. In the early stages, foundation grants and corporate partnerships will fund program growth, farmer training, and technology development. As we scale, revenue from verified carbon credit sales will become a key income source, directly linking finance to environmental impact. We will also attract impact investors aligned with sustainable agriculture and explore additional income streams like consulting, technology licensing, and greenhouse product sales to reduce funding risks. Strong financial management, transparent reporting, and impact measurement will build trust with supporters, enabling ongoing investment. By blending philanthropic and market-based funding, we will expand the SokoFarm Regenerative Carbon Program as a scalable, sustainable climate-smart agriculture model in Kenya and beyond.
