Project Summary / Description:
Executive Summary Green ICE is an integrated hardware and software solution designed to eliminate the logistical and environmental inefficiencies of autonomous electric vehicle (AEV) fleets. Our initiative combines high-density vertical depot technology—the AV Big Wheel—with a proprietary Smart Depot Operating System (SDOS). By housing 16 vehicles in the footprint of just 3 conventional parking spaces, we solve the "sprawl" problem while utilizing V2S (Vehicle-to-Station) communication to drastically reduce non-revenue "deadhead" mileage and grid stress. The Problem: The "Deadhead" Climate Tax While electrification removes tailpipe emissions, current AEV fleets are hampered by extreme logistical waste. Studies show that "deadheading"—miles driven empty to reach charging or maintenance hubs—accounts for 30% to 50% of total fleet mileage. This leads to unnecessary energy consumption, increased demand on carbon-intensive "peaker" plants, and the rapid degradation of battery assets without productive utility. Our Solution: The Vertical Decarbonization Node The Green ICE system acts as a decentralized, multi-functional hub that brings infrastructure to the vehicle, rather than the vehicle to the infrastructure. SDOS Integration: Our proprietary software uses real-time visibility and V2S communication to optimize fleet deployment. The SDOS identifies the most energy-efficient charging window for each vehicle, enabling Demand Response to smooth grid loads and prioritize renewable energy consumption. Land-Use Efficiency: The Big Wheel provides a 533% increase in land-use efficiency, allowing cities to replace sprawling surface lots with vertical nodes, thereby preserving urban permeable surfaces and reducing the "Heat Island" effect. Resource Circularity: Each unit features an integrated maintenance suite, including an AI-assisted inspection system and a water reclamation car rinse. Our system recycles up to 85% of wash water, eliminating the energy-intensive Scope 3 emissions associated with municipal water transport and treatment. Impact and Scalability Green ICE transforms AEV depots from passive storage into active grid-stabilizing assets. By reducing deadhead miles and extending vehicle lifecycles through automated maintenance, we significantly lower the Carbon Intensity per Passenger Mile. Our modular design is engineered for rapid urban deployment, providing a turnkey solution for the global transition to sustainable, autonomous mobility.
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Green ICE is a woman- and minority-owned enterprise led by a Black female founder whose experience with Women Who Charge informs our focus on safety and equity. Our leadership reflects the communities most impacted by urban pollution, including experts in land use and engineering committed to mentoring diverse talent. We empower underrepresented groups through: Safety & Accessibility: Automated, high-density depots provide secure, well-lit environments, removing the "safety tax" often paid by women in public charging. Workforce Development: We will leverage the GWMP Fellowship via a staged approach. Phase 1 focuses on Technical Development (SDOS, SCADA, and systems integration), while Phase 2 recruits Policy & Infrastructure fellows to navigate municipal entitlements and grid frameworks. Urban Equity: By reclaiming land and reducing "deadhead" traffic, we improve air quality in climate-vulnerable neighborhoods disproportionately affected by vehicle emissions.

Mission Statement:
Green ICE is dedicated to decarbonizing the autonomous future by eliminating logistical waste and urban sprawl. Through vertical density, integrated water reclamation, and AI-driven optimization, we provide the essential infrastructure to ensure electric fleets operate with the smallest possible environmental footprint.
