Primary Project Category:
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
GB Vertical empowers groups that are often underrepresented in the climate movement by focusing its solution on climate-vulnerable communities in arid and low-resource regions, where water scarcity, energy costs, and climate shocks disproportionately affect livelihoods. By reducing barriers to advanced agricultural decision-making, the project enables smallholders, young farmers, and marginalized rural communities to adopt efficient, climate-resilient practices without requiring high capital or technical expertise. The organization itself is youth-led and Global South–based, with leadership under 35 and team members from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds. This lived experience informs the design of a solution that is practical, accessible, and context-aware. GB Vertical works closely with local partners, universities, and institutions to ensure knowledge transfer, capacity building, and local ownership. By improving productivity while reducing resource pressure, the project supports economic inclusion and climate resilience for communities most exposed to climate impacts. Through its technology, partnerships, and leadership structure, GB Vertical contributes to a more inclusive climate transition where those most affected by climate change are also active participants in shaping and benefiting from solutions.
