The Inua Damsite Community Agro-Processing Hub is an operational, solar-powered food recovery and processing initiative that prevents methane emissions by intercepting surplus and near-end-life fruits and vegetables before they decompose. The hub converts recovered produce into shelf-stable, nutritious products including composite flours, fruit powders, and therapeutic food blends. Through a pay-as-you-produce shared facility model, women and youth access processing equipment, training, and markets without high upfront costs. The initiative strengthens local food systems, reduces post-harvest losses, creates dignified livelihoods, and embeds climate mitigation into community-led economic activity.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Inua Damsite Community Agro-Processing Hub is intentionally designed to place women, youth, and climate-vulnerable rural and informal-settlement communities at the center of methane mitigation and climate action. To date, the initiative has trained 831 women and youth agro-processors, the majority of whom operate women-led micro-enterprises using the hub’s pay-as-you-produce shared facility model. These entrepreneurs earn income from processing and selling composite flours, fruit powders, and therapeutic blends, generating an estimated USD 250–400 in monthly revenue per active micro-processor, significantly increasing household income and financial independence.

The project engages 18,000+ smallholder farmers, many of them women, who now earn income from surplus and near-end-life produce that previously had no market value. On the consumer side, the hub supplies affordable nutritious foods to 1,000+ low-income families, including refugees and urban informal-settlement households, improving nutrition and resilience.

Organizationally, women hold the majority of leadership and operational roles, including Project Lead and Nutrition & Product Development Lead. Youth manage daily operations, aggregation, and distribution.
